DevOps Engineer
In this rapidly evolving world, Alcor Technical Solutions, LLC is always looking for new ways to disrupt the status quo, go to market faster, and optimize customer experiences. We’re seeking an experienced DevOps engineer to support our greenfield development project during a multi-year contract. The ideal candidate will have ideas and strategies, and aide in implementing them to foster an environment of modernization and collaboration.  The candidate will have significant experience with any modern DevOps Stack and processes, including Linux, Ansible, and Hashi Suite (Terraform, Consul, Vault, Vagrant, Packer, Nomad). This individual will work remotely and will travel to corporate headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland quarterly.


Responsibilities

• Develop new scripts in Python, Bash, or other appropriate languages for AWS Lambda, CI/CD pipelines, or automation.
• Understand AWS cost implications and actively optimize the cloud environment.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the development language(s) used for application development.
• Analyze project requirements and translate them into specifications and deliverables, working independently.
• Break down, estimate, and provide design solutions for small increments of work.
• Communicate effectively (both written and oral) with technical teams and clients as needed.
• Provide production support for existing applications.
• Understand the development and customer environments.
• Actively participate in scrum/refinement meetings, providing input on project completion.
   

Required skills and qualifications

• 4-5 years of experience in at least two of the disciplines of Software Development, System Administration, and Cloud Engineering, or significant cloud technology experience in large, complex, multi-site, multi-layered organizations.
• 2 years of experience in Terraform, AWS, Docker, and other DevOps Engineering Tools.
• 2+ years of experience implementing and supporting at least one CI/CD Solution like CircleCI, Jenkins, Concourse, etc.
• Experience with ELK, AWS services (VPC, Lambda, EC2, ECS, AMI, S3, Route 53), Git, Concourse CI (Bosh Deployments), Docker, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Prior experience working in an agile environment as part of an agile team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving tactics for user management, process management, and data cleanup/refinement contexts
• Ability to pivot in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with collaboration tools, specifically:  Outlook, Jira, Confluence, Slack, and MS Teams
   

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Any current DevOps Certification (RadiantLogic, AWS, etc)
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline

• Ability to iterate in problem-solving and learn in an open-source setting.
• Significant or detailed experience with any modern DevOps Stack and processes, including Linux, Ansible, and Hashi Suite (Terraform, Consul, Vault, Vagrant, Packer, Nomad).
• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience.
